MINUTES
Present:
Tim Heidlebaugh, Ray Garner, Nick Gonzales, Don Kilgore, Doug Sowers, Ben Myers,
Rod Wolfe, Ron Urlacher, Don Fulton, Mark Overby, Will Markin, Bruce Price
Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 10:05am.
Approval of Minutes:
The minutes from December 5th meeting were approved.
Secretary / Treasurer Report:
Deferred
Newsline:
Doug will write an article and present at Chelan meeting. Run all articles
through the State Secretary to manage postings on websites before utilizing AMI.
The new AMI contract is for $1,750.00 per month based on usage. Details are
available in board minutes on the website
www.wsshe.org . Common by-laws are adapted throughout state chapters.
Advocacy:
Don Kilgore reported that the State Fire Marshall cited their facility for
single transfer switch to facility. They have applied for a waiver which was
sent to Medicare. Application has been denied. They are re-applying &
questioning Fire Marshall AHJ to ASHE.
Scholarship:
Committee met to discuss – amounts reduced to $500.00. Brad can clarify. Due by
July 30, 2009.
ASHE News:
Gold status membership is at 49% which did not meet the requirement to be Gold
Member Chapter and will be a Silver Chapter submittal. Due to a typo on the on
qualifications we still qualify & will remain a Gold Chapter. Encouraged all
present to join ASHE and increase our participation for ASHE.
Board Report:
State reserve fund to remain at 15% to 20% we are above that level. Steve Gears
is running for Region 10 ASHE representative & currently serves ASHE in advocacy
role.
Semi Annual:
April 29 – May 1st. Tim Adams with ASHE will present on risk Assessment, Steam
and Heaters. Check website for details. Requesting each chapter to prepare a
15-minute presentation on minimizing risk on utilities and share processes for
improvement activities to ensure risk reduction and standby processes. Doug
needs a volunteer ASAP and was suggested call to Neil.
Upcoming Education Conferences:
Gary Welch – education for SW Chapter pneumatic training requested. TAC Company
offers training for this training. May or June timeframe to provide training.
Room & meals expenses will apply, training will be free. Gary will email Doug &
Randy details and have Randy send out a mailing or email. Gary will develop a
flyer for distribution which will need to happen in the next two weeks to
confirm attendance. Doug called for a motion to announce the additional training
in May. Tim moved to offer training and funds for speaker travel, hotel, room
charges and meals. It is estimated at $1,200.00 for their training. Don
seconded. Motion approved for 2nd training.
Nomination:
Bruce Price from Walla Walla General has been submitted as a candidate for 2009
Eastern Chapter President-Elect and has agreed to run for the position. Phil
Kercher moved and Dan & Don seconded his nomination. Approved as President
Elect.
Questions from Chuck:
Survey from CMS, how does this work? Has anyone done one? This was explained by
Don Kilgore the process that can trigger a survey, complaint or a validation
survey for JCAHO.
BOC Training Level 1 (Sacred Heart) one day a month from 8-4 from April 8th to
November 18th for a total of 74 hours at a cost of $1,375.00. Contact Phil
